School Saint Of The Week

John was born into considerable wealth in France in 1651. From an early age, he was religiously devoted and became a Canon at Rheims Cathedral at the age of 16. John was appalled at the conditions in which the poor lived and how little prospect they had of ever being educated or progressing in life. John began to establish free schools aimed specifically at those who could not afford education and began training people to teach in those schools. St John tirelessly devoted his life to serving the poor and ministering to those less fortunate than himself. He eventually donated his entire wealth and property to the service of the poor. We pray this week that we may always be of service to those in need.
