The School Nursing Team Richard Cotton
The School Nursing team at Tunstall Primary Care Centre support all pupils that attend St Margaret Ward. The named nurse is Richard Cotton but any of the school health team can be contacted all year round on the details at the bottom of this page.
Health
The school nurse is able to advise and provide support with a wide variety of health issues that include emotional health, smoking cessation, drug and alcohol misuse, sexual health, growth and development concerns, and chronic illness.

Immunisations
Currently pupils in Years 8 and 9 receive immunisations in school for the following diseases:
Year 8: HPV (Human Papiloma Virus)    *GIRLS ONLY*
Year 9: Diphtheria, Tetanus, Polio booster, Meningitis C booster
It is anticipated that all pupils in the school will also be offered the annual flu vaccination in the coming years. Further information will be provided once this has been confirmed.
 
Referrals
Referrals to the school nurse can be made directly via the school reception, or by telephoning the number below. We try our best to see any pupil referred within two weeks, but will prioritise for more urgent cases.
 
Drop-In
The school nurse, Mr Richard Cotton, runs a weekly drop-in service in school at Wednesday lunchtime and also after school from 3:15pm until 4:15pm on the first Monday of every month, for any pupil to access without appointment.
 
There is also a drop-in service at Tunstall Primary Care Centre every Monday afternoon between 3pm-4:30pm which is open to all pupils and parents for support or advice of any health-related issue or concern.
We are also happy to see young people who may have left the school for any reason.
Appointments can be made but are not always necessary.
