Careers Fair 2022

Our annual Careers Fair is back! On Thursday 20th October we welcomed over 40 companies, colleges, universities and apprenticeship providers to St Margaret Ward to present their courses as part of our annual Careers Fair. The students in Yrs 10, 11, 12 & 13, all enjoyed time in our careers fair – finding out information, searching for future career ideas and speaking with the visiting guests. The atmosphere was buzzing! We welcomed many visiting companies, such as the world renowned JCB, Stoke City FC – who offer both apprenticeships for budding players but also volunteering opportunities on match days, Staffordshire Police and Fire service, Equality Training – who offer training courses in the following vocational specialisms: Hair & Beauty, Barbering, Childcare, Health & Social Care and Business Administration, FGP – who are one of the UK’s leading firms of Chartered Surveyors, offering over 50 years’ expertise in advising developers in the acquisition of land and property, the British Ceramics Biennial – who talked students through their local ceramics projects and job opportunities in the City, as well as our own sixth form offer – St Margaret Ward Sixth Form – Trinity Sixth Form. We also had multiple universities in attendance from our local Staffordshire University through to Liverpool John Moores University – who offer courses from Accounting to Zoology and Edge Hill University where you can study for a degree in Dance or Biosciences.

Our visitors were incredibly impressed with our students’ manners and effort as they toured around each stall. Charlotte Hughes from Higher Horizons said, “The event was well organised and set-up and the children were polite and genuinely interested in their interactions” and Liam Lambert from Equality Training said, “Well done to all the students for their positive engagement, they were extremely friendly”.

It was a fantastic day, with excellent information shared. Our students were excited to ask questions and engage with providers about future careers ideas. All students said in the evaluation that the careers fair was a really well organised, valuable experience and that the exhibitors were really helpful and informative. It was also great to see parents joining us for the careers fair afterschool session this year. We are very much looking forward to next year’s Fair!
