Castlerigg Retreat

On 15th May, a group of 26 Year 7 students set off to the Lake District to take part in the Castlerigg Retreat.

For many this was their first residential so everyone was excited to see what was in store. The week was based in an old manor house that been converted to have dorm rooms, a huge lounge, a garden which included a football pitch and a games room with a tuck shop (everybody’s favourite place!).

Throughout the week the students participated in a whole range of activities including: an orienteering treasure hunt, creating their own gardens, walking to visit Castlerigg stone circle, a trip in Keswick town and a disco!

They also got lots of opportunities to explore their faith further by trying lots of different types of prayers like singing and meditation and participating in a mass where they wrote and read out their own bidding prayers.

The trip was a great opportunity for students to make new friendships and special memories. One student said the trip was “10/10, I had an amazing time at this retreat and want to go again!”.
