Catholic Social Teaching

At St Margaret Ward we are committed to the promotion of Catholic Social Teaching (CST). We have begun a process of looking at CST as a whole school and were delighted to be the first school on the Birmingham Archdiocese to receive the ‘Participator Level’ of the Romero Award for our work in this area. We are currently working towards the ‘Developer Level.’

Further information about the Romero Award:

In 2023 all staff received INSET training on CST and we began the process of auditing the whole curriculum to see where CST is taught. All subject areas have now highlighted specific sections of the curriculum to link explicitly to CST and the process of teaching this began this academic year.

The 1719 Society at SMWCA are instrumental in our promotion of CST, leading assemblies on CST and listening to the views of our pupils. Fidei time is used throughout the year to teach different elements of Catholic Social teaching and how we can relate this to our own lives and that of others.
