Mass for Careworkers: The Bishops of England and Wales are taking it in turns to celebrate Mass in their Diocesan Cathedrals each Thursday evening at 7:00: just one hour before the national Clap for Carers.

On Friday 22nd May we begin a Novena to the Holy Spirit.  A Novena is 9 days of prayer.  After the Ascension of Our Lord, Jesus instructed His Apostles and others including Mary, His mother to stay in the upper room and pray for the coming of the Holy Spirit.  We ask you to join our community to pray for the coming of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost.  We have been asked to pray for that the Holy Spirit will bring healing and renewal to our world.  You could pray the following prayer;

Come Holy Spirit,
fill the hearts of your faithful
and kindle in them the fire of your love.
Send forth your Spirit
and they shall be created.
And You shall renew the face of the earth.
O, God,
who by the light of the Holy Spirit,
did instruct the hearts of the faithful,
grant that by the same Holy Spirit
we may be truly wise
and ever enjoy His consolations,
Through Christ Our Lord, Amen
Alternatively you could say One Our Father …., One Hail Mary… and A Glory Be (or 7  Glory Be for each gift of the Spirit).

Let us once more, like the faithful in the upper room, ask the Holy Spirit to renew us and our daily lives.
