There is much to celebrate at St Margaret Ward Catholic Academy as students received their GCSE results yesterday. The many excellent results and personal achievements are testament to their hard work, effort, resilience and determination to succeed. We are particularly proud to see the success of so many of our students who have clearly risen to the challenge of the more challenging reformed GSCE qualifications.

This year’s results saw an improvement in all headline areas with a significant rise in the school’s Basics figure to 68%, they also saw the standard pass figure in English reach 82% and the standard pass figure in Maths rise by 10% on the 2018 figure.

Notable individual achievements include Mollie who achieved four grade 9’s, 3 grade 8’s and a grade 7, Jacob who achieved 4 grade 9’s, 4 grade 8s and a grade 7 and  Lucy who achieved 2 grade 9’s, 3 grades 8’s and 3 grade 7’s.

These results come a week after significant success for our A-level students leading them to the best universities and apprenticeships.

We wish all our students every success with the next phase of their education and look forward to seeing them, along with other young people from across the city in our Sixth from September. For those going on to other education, employment and training we wish you all the very best and pray that you have a happy and successful future.
