Year 12 and 13 Psychology and Sociology students had a fun, informative day at Shrewsbury ‘Dana’ Jail on Wednesday 27th March.  25 students took part in an interactive prison experience, donning orange prisoner uniform, they were taken through the procedures for processing prisoners, before being shown around the prison, locked up in the cells and given a spine-chilling talk about the death penalty in the execution room.  The hosts, Graham and Kirsty, both ex-prisoner officers at Shrewsbury ‘Dana’ Jail gave a fantastic informative insight into the demographics of inmates, the crimes committed, the vast array of reasons why people offend, prison routines and behavior management, the role of drugs in prisons, the health and well being of prisoners and a whole lot more.  Great trip enjoyed by all!
