33 students in Years 7 to 12 visited Bletchley Park!
This amazing site was the home of codebreakers in World War 2, and pioneered many of the discoveries that gave birth to the world of Computer Science as we know it today! Bletchley Park was a hugely important site, not just in England but across the world, too.
Students participated in workshops, guided tours, and had time to explore the site in small groups too. The behaviour of all students was exemplary; they were respectful of the site, asked great questions, and the tour guide remarked on what an outstanding audience they had been! GCSE Computer Science students were superb at applying their knowledge to the workshop on encryption, and participated well in activities.
Our very competitive robotics team from Year 8 along with four Year 7 STEM wizards took part in a cryptography event where they had to crack six codes in nine minutes. The host assured them that it could not be done in that time, and they impressed her by calmly informing them that they would succeed, because it’s what they do!
Well done for completing the task so well, and for being such great team mates to each other. What an amazing site to visit – we hope to go back again for future students to explore this incredible part of our history!
