Our Year 10 students have been out on Work Experience this week and next, gaining first-hand insight into the world of work and developing the skills that will help shape their futures. From healthcare and engineering to education, business, and creative industries, students have been experiencing real workplaces, meeting professionals, and discovering what different careers are really like.
Even better, their placements have taken place during National Careers Week 2026, making it the perfect opportunity to connect learning in school with the wider world of work. Throughout the week, students back in school have also been exploring careers within the curriculum, with subjects highlighting how classroom learning links directly to future pathways and opportunities.
We are incredibly proud of how our students have represented St Margaret Ward Catholic Academy in their placements. Thank you to all the employers who have supported them and helped make this such a valuable experience.<
Year 9 students will have their Work Shadowing days on Wednesday 8 July and Thursday 9 July 2026. This is a fantastic opportunity to get an early taste of the workplace and begin thinking about future career interests. If you can offer a placement, please get in touch.
Year 9 students should start exploring and arranging a placement now with family contacts, local businesses, or organisations they are interested in. More information will follow soon!
