We are delighted that you are joining our community here at St Margaret Ward. As you know, we are a faith community and follow the teachings of Our Lord, Jesus Christ.
As a Catholic school we teach the values and beliefs of the Catholic Church, most important of these, is that our students are loved. They are loved by God but also by the staff here at school. As well as this we seek to offer students opportunities to consider and develop their own faith and beliefs. Our Catholic ethos has distinctiveness in that we are an Associate Lasallian school, following the guiding principles of St Jean Baptiste de la Salle, the patron saint of teachers.
We strive to work in de la Salle’s shadow, looking at and treating all our students as individuals. Through his philosophy of “teaching minds, touching hearts, transforming lives”, our school tries to ensure that each person feels that they belong to the Lasallian family and that they matter within our community.
We are proud of our young people and what they achieve and we ensure that all within our community are constantly challenged and encouraged to be the best that they can be in all areas of school life and beyond. We firmly believe the words of the mantra ‘enter to learn, leave to serve.’ Our five core Lasallian values are at the heart of all we do. They are:
- Faith in the Presence of God. The Lasallian school nurtures belief in the living presence of God in our world.
- Concern for the Poor and Social Justice.
- Respect for All Persons.
- Quality Education.
- Inclusive Community.
At St Margaret Ward Catholic Academy prayer and the Good News of the Gospel are central to all we do. We begin each and every day with prayer and reflection, either in Signum Fidei time or year group assembly and all pupils are encouraged to put themselves in the presence of God. We strive to develop pupils spiritually and morally through the living out of our Catholic faith and our core Lasallain values. They are what makes St Margaret Ward Catholic Academy the exceptional place that it is.
