Our Christmas concert was a festive and enjoyable evening that showcased the wide range of musical talent across our academy. The Brass Ensemble set the mood perfectly by entertaining the audience with Christmas carols before the concert began, creating a warm and cheerful atmosphere.
The programme opened confidently with the Orchestra’s lively performance of Bizet’s “Farandole”, followed later by the playful “Magic of Leroy Anderson” and the upbeat “Children’s Christmas March”, which rounded off the evening beautifully. Contemporary music featured strongly, with Static Waves performing “No. 1 Party Anthem” and Voicebox impressing with both “Count on Me” and a spirited “Sleigh Ride.”
Seasonal favourites were delivered by the Flute Choir and Brass Ensemble adding a traditional Christmas feel.
Standout solo moments included Marion’s expressive guitar solo of “The Man Who Sold the World,” and polished instrumental playing from Blake and Kevin in their Handel Sonta. Poppy and Laila performed an emotive and well-balanced duet of “A Million Dreams,” and Elaya captivated the audience with a sensitive and stunning performance of “Call Your Mom.” Cerin’s powerful rendition of “Skyfall” was another memorable moment, showcasing strong vocal control and dramatic presence.
The Junior Orchestra charmed the audience with music from Up and Offenbach, while the Jazz Orchestra brought energy and swing with “The Snow Waltz” and “Santa Claus Is Comin’ to Town.” Musicians also shone in the Recorder Group, whose enthusiastic performances were warmly received.
The concert was a joyful celebration of music and the festive season, leaving the audience entertained and full of Christmas spirit. A huge thank you and well done to everyone involved.
