‘EMPOWERMENT’

These aims and values underpin our department vision, which is ‘to EMPOWER our students to become CONFIDENT, CULTURED, CREATORS’.

Our Driver: EMPOWERMENT

The Art department at SMWCA intends to equip our students with the skills and knowledge that will EMPOWER them to become cultured and confident creators, who can express themselves through art and make informed decisions about their futures. We want our students to leave us feeling empowered by the skills and knowledge they have gained from their time with us.

Aims for our students:

• We aim to EMPOWER our students to become CULTURED, CONFIDENT CREATORS.
• We aim to EMPOWER our students with the skills and knowledge to be calculated RISK TAKERS
• We aim to EMPOWER our students with VISUAL LITERACY skills to THRIVE in an ever-evolving VISUAL world
• We aim to EMPOWER our students with a broad knowledge of creative CAREER opportunities so they can make the right choice for their futures.
• We aim to EMPOWER our students with the skills and knowledge to help their CREATIVITY to FLOURISH.
• We aim to EMPOWER students to EXPRESS themselves successfully through art
• We aim to EMPOWER students by immersing them in a creative experience which introduces them to many artists, craftspeople, designers and movements in art, alongside a variety of art made across different time periods, cultures, and countries.
• We aim for students to develop as CREATIVE INDIVIDUALS to the point where they can work independently and feel EMPOWERED to develop their own PERSONAL IDEAS. · We aim to provide our students with an educational experience that EMPOWERS them to express themselves creatively, to feel confident exploring MEDIA, and to be able to EXPRESS their own FEELINGS and opinions fluently, whether in the written or visual form. · We aim to facilitate students in producing the best work of which they are personally capable to achieve their best results and outcomes according to their personal capability, thus EMPOWERING them to feel confident.
