On Tuesday 6th June a group of art students from year 10 and 12 visited Staffordshire University Art and Design Degree Show, accompanied by Miss Terry, Mr Boulton, Miss Price and Miss Leese. The trip was organised as part of a Higher Horizons experience aimed to encourage more students to apply for University.
The day was well received by all. Students were able to get involved in different workshops run by university students and course leaders. These included Fashion, Surface Pattern, Fine Art and Graphics/Illustration.
Alongside the opportunity to show off their creative talents, students were also able to visit the degree show itself. The show was huge and showcased all of the third-year students’ final projects. Many of our students have since been inspired to consider applying for creative courses at University that they had not even considered before, such as; Animation, Film, Fashion, Surface Pattern, Transport Design and Comic Art, to name a few.
We have high hopes that our talented students will now seriously consider making a career out of their creative talents. Who knows, maybe we will see the next Stella McCartney or Danny Boyle graduate from being St Margaret Ward students.
We look forward to inspiring next year’s cohort, when the show will also include Architecture.
