‘Made in Stoke’ an inspiring event to welcome our new year 11’s to an important year

On Thursday 5th September our year 13’s hosted an event for our new year 11 students on their first day back to school.

It took the group, from the Trinity Sixth Form Raising Aspirations Committee, five months to put together whilst navigating various challenges along the way. Their mission, to share inspiration and knowledge they wish they’d had when they were doing their GCSEs.

Fifty alumni students and three guest speakers, all ‘Made in Stoke’, were invited to the school to share their personal journey through their final years at school, career pathways and top tips. The aim of the event was to inspire, motive and show that, no matter where you come from, you can achieve great things.

The day began with words from the organisers and principle, along with two guest speakers. Dr Andrew Morris, a Senior Lecturer in Infectious Diseases at Keele University and Joan Walley, a former politician.

Our Year 11 students then had the opportunity to speak to their choice of fifty alumni students of Trinity Sixth Form, who were all invited back to the school to share their experiences, career journey so far, and advice for aspiring students.

Our third and final guest speaker of the day was a former graduate of Trinity Sixth Form and now Lead Stereotactic Radiotherapy Physicist, Christopher Dean.

It was wonderful to see past and present students engaging together. Our year 11’s gained valuable insights and top tips on how to make the right choices for their next steps in education and future career paths.

We’re so proud of the year 13 committee for putting together such a professional and helpful event. It’s clear they’ve gained valuable life skills and confidence we know will help them in their next steps.

A massive well done to all involved, for planning such a fantastic event, and thank you to our guests’ speakers. The event was a huge success and credit to you all.
