Last week the Art department took our GCSE and A-level art students to Manchester to visit the Manchester Museum and the Whitworth Art Gallery. It was a fantastic opportunity for students to get inspiration for their own coursework as well as having the chance to encounter some diverse and exciting ways of creating art in the gallery. Highlights included: cultural artefacts, animals, and dinosaurs in the museum and Textile installations, Lucien Freud paintings and Japanese prints in the gallery. There was something for everyone. Students were mature and engaged and did a brilliant job at gathering inspiration to bring back to school.
