On Thursday 8th May, a group of Year 8 students gathered in the library to compete for the title of ‘Best Speech’ in the year group.
As part of our ‘Rhetoric’ scheme of work in English, all Year 8 students were tasked with planning, writing and delivering their own speeches on a ‘topic of importance’ of their choosing. The finalists were nominated by their class teachers as standout orators, having demonstrated exceptional skill and passion in their original class presentations. These students bravely agreed to perform their speeches once again – this time in front of a wider audience – with some friends there to cheer them on!
Our panel of judges faced a tough decision, as the standard of speeches was truly exceptional.
Each student spoke passionately and with maturity, and should feel immensely proud of themselves.
After much deliberation, our winners were:
1st place – Abyad
2nd place – Fawn
3rd place – Diamona
Congratulations to everyone involved!
