On Thursday 6th October it was National Poetry Day. To celebrate, I ran a Poetry Workshop in the library with the assistance of Jessica in Year 13. About 15 students attended, from Years 7-13, where we shared a few extracts from poems about the environment - following the theme for 2022.

Pictured here are the Y8 Boys' football team following their 7-0 victory against Abbotsholme School. The boys performed brilliantly with 3 goals for L.Goodwin, 2 For T. Gebre,  1 for M. Bradbury and 1 for H. Williams. All credit to the Abbotsholme team and we wish them good luck for the rest of the season.

The sixth form trip to Loughborough university was an amazing opportunity and experience. I personally felt welcomed to campus straight away, with multiple students to assist us with where to go and things to partake in. The welcoming booth, where we signed in, was also very helpful.

On Wednesday 28th September, Lynn Jones MBE visited St Margaret Ward Catholic Academy to host a special assembly and to present the first and second prizes of the Gareth Jones Award for Excellence, a city-wide creative writing competition in memory of Lynn's late husband, Gareth, who led the Stoke-on-Trent English Excellence Partnership for several years.

On Tuesday 27 September we had our first full school concert since December 2019! The evening began in style with our School Orchestra followed by a variety of solos from students in Y8 to Y13 and even a spectacular piano solo from an exchange student and a former student who is now studying at the prestigious Chetham’s School of Music.

Year 11 students from St Margaret Ward Catholic Academy, Tunstall celebrated after collecting their GCSE results at a time that marks the first official results day since the COVID-19 pandemic.
